Nokia Lumia 620: Changing color theme

On this post this will show you on how to change the appearance of your Nokia Lumia 620. Well, just a basic change like the color background and color accent or color of your tiles or panel of you phone, here are the steps. Ok on the image below is the default setup of my Nokia Lumia 620; just a Cobalt Blue accent & a dark background.

1. By default, the phone was set to Lumia dashboard, so you need to go desktop mode of the phone by swipping it to the left and select "Settings".

2. Then select the label "Theme".

3. After you are inside, there would be 2 selection, one is to set the mood of the background by selecting light or dark background.

- The accent will set the color of your tiles or panels of your phone.

4. Once you selected the theme of your phone, just hit return until you've reached the main Lumia dashboard.

You can see right away the new theme of your phone that you've set.

Nokia Lumia 620 Troubleshooting — 01

On this post, I'll show on how to troubleshoot your Nokia Lumia 620 smartphone in any case you've seen an outgoing status stuck on the screen even you're transferring your file from another smartphone via Bluetooth.

Here's the simple solution to this, at the screen of the phone on the top most part you are seeing either "sending" message, turn-off the phone wait for 10 seconds and turn back on again the phone; once the phone is already boot up, you'll see that the status bar is gone, that indicate that the status bar for the bluetooth was already rid off.

Iphone 5S video capabilities

I guess you can say that this is where Fashion meets Technology.

If you are looking what the latest Iphone 5s can do especially its video capabilities, this is the perfect reference. The famous British luxury fashion house Burberry has an event that is shot entirely using the latest Apple 5S — thanks to the head retail for Apple which is also the former CEO of Burberry for making this possible.

To see the true video resolution of the Apple Iphone 5S on those video, switch the resolution of the player to 720p.

With this promotion, does Apple can compete with Nokia's monster camera phone Lumia 1020 and Pureview 808? Or if Apple is creating a brand awareness and targeting the luxury segment, does Apple can compete and can stand a chance with the renowned Italian luxury phone maker Vertu? Guess this is all brand awareness on different market here.

This approach is similar with Korean phone maker LG which collaborated with PRADA and Samsung with Giorgio Armani.

I discovered one strategy bringing you brand into the language that the younger generation can understand or can rely on; this would be considered as the most innovative advergaming that I discovered, bringing your brand into Kinect (a popular peripheral from XBOX360) as a channel to pitch or deliver your brand to the public or to your potential customer or client.

Here is the video the Kinect sensor used as a media for advergaming, the client is Procter and Gamble for their napkin line Whisper, used on one of the fashion event in the Philippines.

Some Principles of Marketing in real-world situation

One vital ingredient of any successful company is their marketing strategy; whether the approach is traditional marketing or online marketing, the goal of telling your customer that you have a product that is for sale; it is also a make-or-break to the company whether the product will be successful or not.

I got this book regarding the principles and I definitely agree on it; here are some principles — well it is not official though — that are applicable and already proven in real-world situation which every decision must take it very seriously and can be apply also to your company:

1. Your customers aren't listening to you

As a marketer, you are more eager to make sales as your customers are making purchases. Usually, customers couldn't care less about you and your product and at the same time some of them are not interested to participate on any marketing program which you created. The key on this principle is communication and motivation to the potential customer who are very busy thinking about anything besides your message.

2. Being good is not enough — you have to be better

The world of Marketing — whether online marketing or traditional marketing — is a highly competitive field. You'll compete for shelf space, customer attention, and for sales and customer loyalty which is very difficult to retain this present times because customers are offered many options. The important ingredient on this is Innovation which some countries (like Philippines) are not particular with it. Innovate in how you produce and distribute you product in order to make it better and convenient for consumer. You need to do all this things, if not, your competitors will definitely eat you alive. It is not that marketers must reinventing themselves from time-to-time but they have no choice because of competition.

3. Marketing should be the most creative part of any business entity

This can considered as the most important ingredient of a successful marketing in every companies; times like this creativeness is an attribute or asset that is difficult to find. You know why? Simple, nobody invents a new product, writes a captivating advertisement, or even design an awesome event by following instructions or crunching numbers. Take note, simply you need to have a starting point for you imagination; you must have something unique and creative.

FYI, in marketing, everything you do must be unique. You cannot run the same ad over and over again, sell the same product year after year, or even use the same sales pitch on every customer or even client. The work of marketing department is constantly changing and evolves. On one book, the principle of Marketing is more than an art and science.

This is the reality which I think it is a challenge in every companies or any organizations; they will just run marketing as if marketers are just another bunch of bean counters. In reality, marketers — especially this time — doesn't have any formal training in creativity before taking marketing position which I think it is common today. Marketers need to swim against the stream in order to do good, creative marketing.

4. Marketing should be the most logical part of your business

This will oppose on my post above, do take note that you can't succeed just being creative in marketing. Great marketers are part artist and part scientist. They usually come up with a brilliant insight into what their customers need, and write it down in a least expected places — also known as EUREKA — in order to remember. The will head up to the office building and try to test the idea through customer surveys, test markets, sales projection, and more.

5. Everything is marketing

Everything your company does is marketing — that's the reality, in the sense that everything has the potential to influence customers and either increase or hurt sales.

Take note that this principles are applicable on online marketing and traditional marketing and it is not thought in schools.

Job posting ads terms: Exposed

Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo 161_zps3fac8225.jpg
So this month, you graduated with a degree and proud of yourself thinking that you can find that dream job, going to have a dream car and that dream house that you've been wanting for a long time; and after that happily ever after — a common practice and mindset by graduates who finished their education in the Philippines who belongs to lower income level. So, the first thing you do is too look for a job especially today, you can go online and look for a list of job opening from different companies.

If you are going to look on job openings which are available from job-posting sites, you will see companies used strong words that encourage graduates, young applicants, or so called "newbies" that their companies is the right choice and they will provide you growth in terms of promotions and upgrading skillsets to go up to the corporate ladder; and at the end, you will be frustrated because that is not the job that you signed for in the first place.

Be aware that the so called "corporate ladder" setup is already extinct, especially companies are relying heavily in outsourcing and getting workers from agencies.

In my observation, the following strong words that are commonly used by the job-recruiters from Banking, Information Technology, and Business Processing Outsource industry whether it is a multi-national companies or locally operated, especially in the Philippines, where it is already a culture.

So I'll post some of the strong words that are commonly practice by companies in the Philippines that are quite misleading, so be careful on what you are going to sign on their contract or job offer.

"Must be a TEAM PLAYER"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo manager_2004885c_zps8039f70b.jpg
When you go to job posting sites, this term is very common to Business Process Outsource, Information Technology, local banking, and local industry in the Philippines especially on the managment level without proper training and education.

Definition: Looking for individuals willing to shut-up and listen to the ideas of people who like to talk more than think.

"Energetic applicant or enthusiastic individual"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo Stuart-Miles-FreeDigitalPhotosnet-young-workers_zpsd93261db.jpg
A very sad reality about this, it is a common practice on some local industry in the Philippines, one example is one local bank which discrimination is apparent.

Definition: No one over 30 years old needs to apply. An exemption though is the industry of Business Process Outsource where even over 30's and even high-school graduate are offered a job opportunity.

"Innovative environment and good working environment"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo 161_zps3fac8225.jpg
Just be careful on this term, thought that the workplace is the coolest place on the world, think again.

Definition: A dimly lit cubicles -- or, "We create half-baked solutions on a shoestring and expect you to be the one who sweats the small stuff.” a very common scene in the Business Processing Outsource and Information Technology industry; and some local industry.

"Identify strategic opportunities"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo 87466175_zps78ed14d2.jpg
Definition: "Show us how to make additional profits (which will we not pass along to you)" -- or, “We’re out of ideas here. Got any?”; a very common scenario on Retailing, Marketing, and Sales whether local or foreign who are in higher management, regardless of the industry; otherwise you'll be terminated or out of their company.

"Problem-solver" or "On-your-feet problem-solving skills required"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo 11455974-computer-technician-helping-office-worker_zps22602836.jpg
Definition: "You'd better know what to do when everything crashes (which will happen at least once a week)." A very common on small scale Business Processing Outsource companies and local companies who doesn't have any budget or do not have plans of upgrading their IT framework for better operation. My advice, don't take the offer if the salary is way below the industry, trust me you'll just be frustrated and resign on that company.

"On time and on budget" or "Be able to achieve project objectives on time and on budget"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo 3key_crop380w_zpsb213de55.gif
Definition: "Be able to make stuff happen immediately with little to no budget".

A very sad reality among the local companies in the Philippines especially on the higher management position in Marketing department; especially in food and consumer goods retailing, companies wants results at a little resources and time; and given the task to the freshly graduate employees which have a limited exposure and no skills, and was hired because of their school's name.

"Long-term opportunity" or "Long-term, career-making opportunity"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo older-worker-430x320_zps3b45e4fb.jpg
Definition: "If you kiss the right years, you might get a minor promotion in 10 years". I think this is a culture in all companies in the Philippines ever since from, whether private or Government, working hard and doing right still underpaid and no promotion.

Guess loyalty has a whole new meaning.

"Dynamic 24/7 environment"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo banking_ghost_in_action_zps718fa01b.gif
Definition: "You will be expected to work nights and weekends with little to no extra incentive"

The same goes for "Can’t sleep until a problem is solved" and "Overtime and after-hours support as needed." Oh, and hope you don't value your free time too much: You'll be expected to answer support calls and test new technologies from home, too (that's what it means to be "passionate" about your profession, you know).

It is a culture in Business Processing Outsource and some local industry like logistics and banking.

"Ability to communicate" and "Ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical people"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo technical-support_zps50183961.jpg
Definition: "You're going to get endless requests from rude ignorami -- and you'd better know how to handle them with a smile on your face".

A very common in Business Processing Outsource especially in Call-Center environment.

"Detailed reports" or "Experience preparing and writing detailed reports based on analysis"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo jh4_zpse1979a7e.jpg
Details: "You will waste hours upon hours preparing long, pointless documents that we will shelve because we believe only our own gut instincts". Very common for office clerk.

"Very little supervision"
Job description terms: Exposed; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com photo boardroom-pp-370x229_zpsd17412e0.png
Definition: "You will never see your superiors except when they need something from you" -- or, "You will be our entire IT department"

It is an open-door policy; just don't expect the open door to result in much more than a blank stare and fresh pile of busy work.

Be aware when you are looking for a job and try to check on the words that they are using.

Samsung Galaxy S4: Its Official

Samsung Galaxy S4 Its Official; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com
Samsung officially launched their latest smartphone which will defintely battle with Apple's latest phone the Iphone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S4.

With the success of its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is equipped with the latest feature and at the same time powerful hardware specs which consumer will change their present smartphone to this one.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is using a quad-core Snapdragon (1.9GHz) processor having a two-gigahertz system memory on a LPDDR3—for me this phone has an edge already compare to its competitors, and running on the latest Android 4.2 or codename Jellybeans. User will have benefit on its 5" display, bigger on its predecessor S3 on a 4.8" display but still the phone is slimmer.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Its Official; Please visit - www.kihtmaine.com

New technologies that the Samsung Galaxy S4 delivers and which are very promising; and Apple definitely will run for their money are:

The introduction of the hand-gesture sensor which the phone will sense the user if his or her hands is doing multitasking without touching its screen; this feature is also available on their smart-tv's which are available in the market.

The photo capturing of a physical business card, turned it into an electronic business-card and will be stored to the user's phone for future reference; a feature which is also found in Samsung's PL120 digital camera—I have one though—where it has this feature where in the camera will capture an image with an alpha-numeric character and turn that image to a readable code of the device.

My favorite, the introduction of 13-megapixel camera that DigiCell photographers (Digicam and Cellphone users) will have new device to toy around; it will also compete with LG's Optimus G that comes also with a 13-megapixel camera.

And most of all, the Samsung Galaxy S4's battery is removable which is also a good news as compared to its competitor which is embedded on the device.

Still it can do wireless connection like email, chat, social networking like Facebook and Google+. But there is another one that Samsung will introduce a technology in the future which is similar LG's technology Smart-UX, the feature where you can take a picture of a foreign alphabet character and translate that into English.

The phone will be available next month, so guys, be ready for this one because once it is already available in the market, this phone will be selling like a pancake.

I'm excited also with the unveiling of Samsung Galaxy Note III.
